This balm is filled with essential oils and soothing oils. It feels great on skin that is inflamed by psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis herpetiformis, viral infections, insect bites and other common ailments. It will not cure your skin condition as these are usually caused by an inflammatory skin disorder, food allergy or other internal reaction. But the use of this balm will help calm and sooth the dry itchy skin and prevent infections caused by excessive scratching.
Useful Essential Oils for Eczema
Chamomile – Chamomile essential oil has strong anti-inflammatory and calming properties. Clary Sage – Also an anti-inflammatory, this essential oil minimizes stress and anxiety, which are common triggers of eczema.
Lavender – Lavender is probably the most pertinent eczema essential oil. It has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, calming, and normalizing properties. It also supports immune health, and is extremely beneficial for alleviating stress.
Myrrh – Myrrh has strong anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antiseptic properties making it ideal for pain relief and minimizing infections from scratching.
Tea Tree – Tea tree oil is one of the best cleansing essential oils. It is extremely effective in protecting the skin from infection, as an antiseptic, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and anti-fungal essential oil. It also has anti-inflammatory properties.
Useful Oil for Eczema
Lanolin – The most natural emollient that comes closest to matching our own skin oils, lanolin is the ideal oil for raw skin. It provides a protective barrier while allowing the skin to breath and function normally. It is capable of softening the roughest skin while being extremely gentle.
Neem Oil – Also very effective in preventing your skin from drying out. Neem is anti-inflammatory, and can reduce the redness and irritation casued by many skin conditions. Neem is also a strong analgesic (pain killer). Some people report instant relief from the excruciating discomfort, as soon as they apply neem salve or cream to eczema skin. And neem is antibacterial, which helps with secondary infections.
Coconut Oil – The antimicrobial and moisturizing properties of coconut oil make it ideal for skin issues. It will melt and absorb into the skin easily making it great for deep irritations.
Sunflower Oil – High in Vitamin E, and well known for its calming and emollient properties, it is an excellent sooth skin and maintain its health.
Cocoa Butter – High in natural fats and melts at body temperature, this rich butter absorbs easily while leaving a temporary barrier that holds moisture and the other oils in as they soak deep into the skin.
**Also contains Jojoba Butter and Beeswax.
Tips – Before using, apply a small amount and let sit for 15 to 20 minutes to make sure you don’t have an allergic reaction. Should you find it irritating at all, you might be sensitive to one of the ingredients.
For best results, use a minimum of once per day especially after bathing while skin is still moist.
Rub in and allow it to full absorb prior to getting dressed. Typically only a few minutes. If skin is calloused, rub off loose callous skin before additional applications of the Skin Soothing Balm. Each time you use it, the top layers of dry skin will soften and roll off easily.
